Redesigned key screens of the St George online banking application to improve usability and attract millennials to using the peer-to-peer transfer feature of the app.
THE WHAT
Created a prototyped redesign of an app that I personally used to continue exploration of design and research skills that I learned in GA UX design course.
I examined an app that I used daily, but often experienced frustrations with due to the interface. I redesigned the UI to engage more customers and improve functionality.
Wanted to improve functionality of peer-to-peer mobile payment service within the banking app (no third-party option in Australia for this service) to grow use of existing customers and acquire new customers.
AND THE WHY
Simplified interface to highlight peer-to-peer money sending as a main feature of the app
Utilized existing brand colors in a different to create distinctions between simple functions such as send and request,
In the transaction overview section, changed hierarchy of information and eliminated all but essential translation details to simplify the page as well as adding a highlights section at the top to show a monthly summary.
Added emoji-like graphics to appeal to younger users (Millennial + Gen Z) who are the main users of peer-to-peer services.
